Masterclass with Gabriele Leporatti

On Monday 30 June 2025, the day after the International Anton Rubinstein Competition for Piano Masters, there will be a masterclass with Prof. Gabriele Leporatti.
Gabriele Leporatti, praised by critics for his passionate playing full of aesthetics and depth, was born in Italy and now lives in Germany. He graduated summa cum laude from the ‘Luigi Cherubini’ conservatory in Florence at the age of 19. Further studies led him to world-class pianists such as Fabio Bidini, Maria Tipo, Jerome Rose and Joaquin Achúcarro. The special prize winner of the 2003 Bremen Piano Competition and winner of the Dorothy McKanzie Award in New York performs solo recitals and as a chamber musician with partners such as Eva Mei and Fabio Bidini as well as with soloists from the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Extensive concert tours have taken him throughout Europe, to South Africa, China, Turkey and the USA, to venues such as London’s Wigmore Hall, the small broadcasting hall of NDR Hanover and the He Luting Hall in Shanghai. In 2009 he gave his New York debut with a solo recital at the International Keyboard Institute and Festival at the Mannes College of Music. His recordings include the solo CD ‘the young brahms’. As a sought-after teacher, he has taught annually at the International Keyboard Institute and Festival of the Mannes College of Music in New York since 2011. Since 2012 he has been a lecturer in piano and head of the piano department at the Anton Rubinstein International Music Academy in Düsseldorf.

Masterclass with Prof. Ilja Scheps

On Monday, 30 June 2025, the day after the International Anton Rubinstein Competition for Piano Masters, there will be a masterclass with Prof. Ilja Scheps.
The Russian pianist Ilya Scheps studied at the famous Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, where he later taught himself.
From 1982, he performed as a soloist with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra for ten years, appearing both as a soloist and with many prominent singers and instrumentalists. Numerous guest performances have taken Ilya Scheps to the USA, Australia, China, Israel, Italy, Malta, New Zealand, Spain, Turkey, Hungary, etc. Ilya Scheps has lived in Germany since 1992. He taught for many years at the conservatories in Rostock and Dortmund and at the Music Academy in Darmstadt. Since 2003 he has been a professor at the Academy of Music in Cologne/Aachen, has led numerous international masterclasses for pianists and was co-founder and long-standing artistic director of the Paderewski Piano Academy in Bydgoszcz (Poland). Ilya Scheps has also been appointed visiting professor at several universities in China. Prof Scheps’ students have won prizes at numerous piano competitions and have signed exclusive contracts with record companies such as “Sony” – Classic and “Universal” Records. Prof. Ilja Scheps is a sought-after jury member at major international piano competitions such as the ‘Top of the world’ and ‘Grieg’ Piano Competition in Norway, Shenzhen Piano Concerto Competition and China Int. Piano Competition in Xiamen (China), Chopin Piano Competition in Darmstadt (Germany), piano competitions in Madrid and Campillos in Spain, Concours International de Piano ‘Orchestra’Sion’ Istanbul (Turkey) and the MozArte International Piano Competition in Aachen (Germany). Since November 2022, Prof. Scheps has been teaching piano and chamber music at the Anton Rubinstein International Music Academy in Düsseldorf.
